About Machining

The Monozukuri Department supports everything from ideation and planning to manufacturing and development when University of Tokyo students are involved in research or personal projects.
At Room 024 in Faculty of Engineering Building no. 5, you can order machining parts like milling process and electrical discharge process.

How to Use

After registration, you can use the Room024 for the following purposes. Registration and discussion about how to use the atelier is handled on a one-on-one basis, so please either fill in the contact form.

Target User

Undergraduate and Graduate Students of the University of Tokyo

Location

Room 024, Faculty of Engineering Building no. 5, Hongo campus

Introduction to the Equipment

Electro-Discharge Processing Machine

ーCut out any ring-shaped objects by applying voltage across the processing object and cut the object by discharging electricity between a wire that is brought close to itー

Lathes

ーProcess an object by cutting it with a blade while rotating the object. You can expect a high precision in the diameter of circular shapes.ー

Milling Machines

ーCut objects for processing by rotating a blade. Good for processing shapes that are not circular.ー

Machining Machines

ーCan process different shapes by milling, drilling, boring and threading, using automatically exchanged blades for different purposesー

Measuring Machines

ーAble to measure the size of the processed parts with high precision.ー

3-D Printers

ーCan output any shape designed using CADー
